Bath Fitter, Jacuzzi Bath Remodel, Bath Planet and the other one-day companies cover your old bathroom in acrylic. We rebuild it — down to the studs, Schluter-waterproofed, finished in porcelain tile. Here's the honest comparison.
The one-day secret
How a bathroom gets "remodeled" in a day.
What a one-day bath really is
An acrylic or PVC liner is molded to fit, then installed directly over your existing tub and walls — their own websites describe it as going "right over" what's there. Nothing is removed. That's the only way it fits in a day.
What we do instead
Full gut to the studs — old tile, backer and tub out. New plumbing, Schluter® waterproofing bonded to new backer board, then porcelain tile. When we leave, there's a new bathroom under the finish, not the old one hiding beneath it.
"One day" isn't the whole story
Install day is one day — but the custom liner typically takes weeks to fabricate and schedule. Our full rebuilds finish in about two weeks. A real remodel, in barely more calendar time.
Side by side
Seven things that actually matter.
The short version: the big names either cover your old bathroom in acrylic, or charge design-build prices for the same rebuild we do. Kaja guts it, waterproofs it and tiles it in porcelain — with our own crews, for a fair price. Here's the head-to-head.

The part you can't see
What happens under a liner?
Once acrylic goes over old walls, caulked seams are the only defense. Industry sources have documented the known risk for years: water that finds its way behind a liner is trapped against the old surfaces, where it can't dry, can't drain — and can't be seen. Covering a bathroom doesn't fix it. It hides it.
We remove the unknown instead. Everything comes out, the waterproofing goes in new, and the tile goes on top of a system — not a hope.
Small enough to care. Experienced enough to prove it.

Fair questions
What people ask when they're comparing.
How can Bath Fitter and Jacuzzi finish a bathroom in one day?
Because nothing is rebuilt. A liner or panel system is custom-molded, then glued and caulked over your existing tub and walls. The old surfaces — and any problems behind them — stay right where they were. That's not a shortcut we're willing to sell.
Is an acrylic system at least cheaper than real tile?
Usually not by much — and sometimes not at all. Independent cost guides put typical one-day acrylic remodels between $10,000 and $20,000+. Our full gut-and-rebuild shower remodels run $9,000–$13,000, with porcelain tile and Schluter waterproofing included.
What's the risk of covering old walls instead of removing them?
The caulked seams are the only thing keeping water out. Industry sources have long noted that when water does find its way behind a liner, it has nowhere to go — and you can't see or fix what's sealed underneath. A full rebuild removes the unknown entirely.
How long does a Kaja remodel actually take?
Most bathrooms take about two weeks from demo to done — a complete rebuild in barely more calendar time than the 'one-day' route once you count their weeks of liner fabrication and scheduling.
How do you compare to a big design-build firm like KSI?
Firms like KSI do genuinely nice work — with big-firm overhead, multi-month schedules and prices that often run two to three times ours for a comparable bathroom. With Kaja, the family that owns the company quotes your job and stands behind the finish.
Can I see your work before deciding?
